Term 2 Week 6 - Thursday 5 June 2025
Principals Message
John 20: 19-23
Now when it was late that same day, the first of the week, and the doors were shut, where the disciples were gathered, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them: Peace be to you. And when he had said this, he shewed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord. He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent me, I also send you. When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.
Pentecost Sunday
This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost Sunday is a special day for Christians that celebrates the time when the Holy Spirit came to Jesus’ friends, the disciples. A long time ago, after Jesus went back to heaven, His friends were praying together when suddenly a loud sound like wind filled the room, and small flames appeared above their heads! They weren’t hurt—this was a sign that the Holy Spirit had come to help them. After that, they felt brave and started telling people about Jesus in many different languages. Pentecost is often called the “birthday of the Church” because it was the beginning of people all over the world learning about Jesus and following Him.

Parent Teacher Interviews
Our Parent teacher interviews are scheduled for week 8, starting Monday, June 16. You will receive information via Compass soon which will enable you to access the available time slots and book an appointment. The meetings are important opportunities for you to discuss your child’s progress.
School Start and Finish Times
A friendly reminder that student supervision starts at 8:30am and concludes at 3:30pm. Outside of these times, we can't guarantee supervision of students by staff as they are often involved in planning, correcting of work, assessing or other meetings. Even within our front office area, we can't guarantee supervision beyond 3:30pm. We understand that there might be a one off which is out of your control, however, we appreciate you ensuring that you are dropping off and collecting your child within the appropriate times. Camp Australia offers both before and after school programs, so please utilise this service if you need it outside the designated times.
School Shoes
There appears to be a growing trend where students are regularly wearing shoes other than the designated black shoes. Occasionally, a child’s black shoe might be too wet to wear and this is ok, however, students are currently being reminded about appropriate uniform.
District Cross Country
Thank you to Mr Mitchell and the large band of parent supporters who braved the cold weather on Tuesday at the South Weston Cross country carnival. We had a large group of students participate, with each of them trying their very best. Individually we had some outstanding results, with one of our girls placing first in her event. Students who achieved a top 10 placing qualify for the next level, which is the ACT carnival. Please see Sports News for more information. Thank you to all of our parents who also helped these students with personal training sessions either after school or over the weekends leading up to the carnival.
Students and staff have been busily preparing for the end of term Dance Concert and we look forward to Year 1 assembly this week and Kindergarten assembly in a couple of weeks’ time. As always, thank you for your ongoing support.

Sports News
On Tuesday we had 40 students from Year 2-6 represent our school at the South Weston Regional Cross Country Carnival. They competed against other students from around 28 other schools. They were a real credit to our school and attitudes on the day were exemplary. We had students achieve fantastic results and the following 9 students have been selected to represent at the ACT Cross Country Championships next Friday 13 June.
