Before, After School and Vacation Care
New Outside School Hours Care Provider at St Jude’s Primary School
Camp Australia (CA) is very excited to be partnering with St Jude’s to deliver Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) from Monday 8 July 2019.
CA will partner with our school community to deliver a tailored before and after school care and vacation care program, that is focused on bringing out the very best in kids. The program combines active games with structured and unstructured play, quiet time and a healthy snack. Every day is an adventure led by enthusiastic CA educators who are on a mission to make kids smile.
Parent Information Sessions
To help families understand how the program is structured and to meet CA educators and to find out how to make bookings and manage your account, Parent Information Sessions will be held in the school Library.
When: Tuesday 11 June at 5.30pm and Thursday 20 June at 5.30pm
Camp Australia understand time is valuable to working parents and you may not be able to attend an information night. If this is the case, please visit www.campaustralia.com.au and use the school finder to find out all you need to know about the program.
Register and Book
You can register and book via http://campaustralia.com.au/schools/details/CBC8 to request an information pack, or register and book your children into the program. If you have any further questions, you can call Customer Care on 1300 105 343. The team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except National Public Holidays).
Camp Australia look forward to seeing you in OSHC soon!
Car Park Lines
Our large car park will be remarked during the upcoming school holidays. The marking was planned to happen this week but it has been postponed.
The teaching arrangement in one of our Year 2 classes will change from the start of next term. Mrs Foster will be on leave for the second semester as her family moves to Brisbane for this time. She will re-join our staff next year. While change of teachers is never desirable mid-year, I am delighted that Mrs Bailey is able to teach the class all week. This is a pleasing arrangement which in effect means almost no change for the class.
Congratulations to our ROSTRUM finalists
Last Friday, we were treated to some fabulous public speaking from some of Year 5 and 6 students.
Congratulations to our finalists:
Year 6 - Sophie F, Catie C, Kaylee M, Emily R and Will G.
Year 5 - Campbell L, Natasha M, Charlie R, Natasha M and Jasmyn V.
This year, our runner up was Ashleigh M and the winner was Charlie R. We wish Charlie R all the best as he progresses into the finals against other school finalists on Thursday 13 June, in St Jude’s library at 7pm. People are welcome to attend.
Today, Year 5 celebrated Mass with Fr Michael and the parishioners. Thank you to Mrs L and Mrs Hart for preparing the Mass and to Ana and Will for altar serving. Next week Kinder will be attending Mass. All parents and carers are welcome to attend.
This coming Sunday is Pentecost. Pentecost is called the birthday of the church because before Pentecost, there really was no church. Jesus had ascended back into the heavens, the Apostles were hanging around, scared and confused and nobody knew what to do. Going out to Baptise people and preach about Jesus was the last thing they had in mind because their lives would be in danger.
But Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit – the force that turned a bunch of frightened, mixed-up folks into church. There was a rush of wind, tongues of fire and then suddenly there was courage, knowledge, direction and commitment! Everyone started speaking and was understood, no matter what the language of the listener was! These were saints suddenly on fire with the Holy Spirit. And it all began with the wind and fire of the Spirit.
What changes in you, do you wish the Spirit could blow your way? How can you cooperate with the Spirit? In what ways do you need more courage, knowledge, direction or commitment? What else might you need?
Vinnies Winter Appeal

We are asking for you to assist people in need in our local community again this winter. By supporting the Vinnies Winter Appeal we are helping to bring safety and security to people struggling to make ends meet. Please bring in your donation to school no later than Friday 14 June.

A reminder to check your child’s bag for spare clothes. As the weather is now cooling off, could you please ensure the spare clothes have been updated to reflect the winter weather.
Rain Coats and Gumboots
Rainy cold days do not prevent us from enjoying the outdoors. Splashing in the rain puddles is an experience we encourage if the child has the correct clothing to do so. Please consider bringing in a pair of gumboots and raincoat (to remain here at school).
If you have any spare car or motorcycle tyres lying around your garage we would love to take them off your hands. We would like to use them to develop some ‘small world’ play settings in our outdoor areas. Please speak to your child’s teacher or myself if you are able to help.
ELC Holiday Care
The ELC will be running the holiday care program for ELC children during the next school holidays. The program will run from 8am to 5:30pm for the two weeks, 8 July to 19 July. Information about the program and booking forms will be available at the ELC office soon.
Entertainment Books can be purchased in hard copy (collected on the day of purchase from the ELC) or digital copy for your phone. View the book online at www.online.flippingbook.com/view/1048499/ or order at

Just a reminder that Uniform Shop orders can be placed electronically via Qkr! and items will then be delivered directly to your child, for them to take home. Pending the availability of our volunteers, Qkr! orders are usually filled on Wednesday mornings, as well as Friday afternoons when the shop is open.
If you need to exchange any item that you have ordered (e.g. for a different size), just send the item and a note back into school with your child to go in the daily message bag to the front office. The volunteers at the Uniform Shop will then swap the item over for you and provide it to your child to take home. If any of the items you have ordered happen to be out of stock at the time, a slip will be provided to your child advising of this. If required, refunds can be arranged via the front office.
All profits from the Uniform Shop go to the St Jude’s Community Council and help fund school projects, such as the new playground equipment built in 2018.
If you have any questions, please direct them to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Finally, if anyone is able to assist at the Uniform Shop on a Friday afternoon from 3.00-3.30pm, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Mulleygrub’s Café can only function with your help. We are experiencing delays with having the children’s lunches out on time on a Friday, due to having very few helpers. Please consider putting yourself down once a month or once a fortnight to help out in the canteen. A regular roster needs to be in place for the canteen to be successful. Ask a friend and come in together. Any amount of time is wonderful, especially on a Thursday and/or a Friday. Remember to apply for a Working with Vulnerable People card (WWVP). It’s free for volunteers!
Our Masterchef this week is the 'The Shiny Shum Family' and they are making 'Chocolate Chunk Cookie Bars'. The ingredients are: sugar, butter, egg, vanilla, flour, baking powder, salt, bicarbonate of soda and chocolate. We will be selling them for 50 cents.
$1.00 Lolly limit per day
Our local Bakers Delight in Cooleman Court rewards our school when we purchase bread from them. When making purchases at Bakers Delight could you please ask for the points to be added to St Jude’s. Over time, the points add up and we benefit from this by receiving free bread for carnivals when Meal Deals are organised. Let your friends and family know. The more people that do it, the more points we get.
