Gospel Reading: John 14:1-12
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.
If there were not,
would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come back again and take you to myself,
so that where I am you also may be.
Where I am going you know the way.”
Thomas said to him,
“Master, we do not know where you are going;
how can we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to him,
“Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.
The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.”
Cross Country Carnival
As per the correspondence sent out via Compass this week, tomorrow we will be holding our ELC – Year 4 Cross Country Carnival. The weather forecast looks good and the children are pumped. We look forward to seeing as many of our parents and carers cheering our children along. Thank you to Mrs Henderson and Mr Mitchell for organising this event. The Cross Country Carnival for our Year 5 and 6 students will be held on Wednesday May 10 between 9:30am and 10:20 am, all parents and carers are welcome.
St Jude’s Open Day
On May 2 we held our open day, with sessions in the morning as well as after school. Our Year 6 students led our visitors around the school, highlighting all the wonderful things we offer. They were great ambassadors, with many of the visitors commenting that they want their child to be just like that in Year 6. Across the day we would have had roughly 50 visitors at the school and a large number also at the ELC. We will continue to have opportunities for tours each Tuesday morning in May from 9:30am until 11:00am. If you know of anyone who may be interested in changing schools of starting their school journey at St. Jude’s, please send them our way.
Mother’s Day
Dads - We need your help!
We need Dads (and Grandads, Uncles etc) to volunteer for the Mother’s Day Stall and canteen duties to allow Mums to attend Mother’s Day celebrations.
The Mother’s Day stall will be held, Thursday 11 May, starting at 9:20am. Children will be able to purchase a gift for mum. Prices will range from $2 to $10. If there are any Dads who can spare an hour or two to help at the stall, we would love to see you.
Also, many Mums assist with the canteen on Fridays. With the Mother’s Day celebrations and liturgy on Friday 12 May we don’t want them to miss out! So, any assistance in the canteen from 9-11am from Dads would be much appreciated.
If you could help, please let us know at Stjudes.scc@gmail.com
Afternoon Pick up
A general reminder that the pick up area at the front of the hall, during the afternoon is not for everyone. This area should really just be for:
- Families with 3 or more children
- Families with babies or younger siblings where getting out of the car is challenging
- Families with students with injuries (on crutches etc)
Thank you for your ongoing support.
