Gospel Reading: Matthew 9:36 – 10:8
When Jesus saw the crowds he felt sorry for them because they were harassed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send labourers to his harvest.’ He summoned his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to cast them out and to cure all kinds of diseases and sickness.
These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, the one who was to betray him. These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them as follows:
‘Do not turn your steps to pagan territory, and do not enter any Samaritan town; go rather to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. And as you go, proclaim that the kingdom of heaven is close at hand. Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils. You received without charge, give without charge.’
First Communion
This Saturday and Sunday at our Parish Masses, 27 of our students will celebrate their First Holy Communion. I look forward to joining those celebrating at the Masses at St Jude’s on both Saturday and Sunday. Please keep these students and their families in your prayers.
New Finance system
As we continue to roll out the new system, you will notice some changes in relation to school fees. None of this is related to the overall amount as these are set before the start of the school year. You may notice the outstanding amount might be slightly different on your statement. There is a period of lag between your old BPay number and your new BPay number, which you will see on your next account statement. We will continue to monitor accounts, we would like you to also do this. I believe that one of the other changes is that you will receive monthly statements. This won't change the payment due dates, it is just a function that CE have adopted.
In the future, you will be able to keep an eye on your balance through Compass. Please DON’T pay school fees through Compass pay, as there are considerable charges associated with this. You may also notice other changes. At this stage, you don’t need to do anything. Natalie, Renee and I will again be at CE next Friday 23 June for our next PL instalment (I am disappointed to miss Kinder’s first assembly)
Child Safety Advocate
On Wednesday I attended the Child Safety Advocate meeting, held each term at CE. At the meeting we were given updates in relation to Child Safety legislation. There was also significant discussion about child safety online. A good reminder is the large number of resources available for parents. Many of these are listed on the e safety commissioner website. Messenger Junior was also discussed as a more safe option for online chat between Primary school aged children. Possibly the greatest recommendation is to continue to supervise and monitor your child’s online use and to use recommended age ratings as your guide. What can sometimes appear harmless, can have long term effects.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent teacher meetings begin next week. At these meetings, teachers will outline your child’s report, highlighting areas of growth as well as developing goals for Semester 2 aligned with areas for development. These are very important conversations for both the teacher and the parents. Please make them a priority.
Pupil Free Day
A reminder that the first day of Term 3 for students is Tuesday July 18. Camp Australia are offering a holiday program, which can also include July 18. Staff will be involved in professional learning experiences at school on Monday July 17.

ELC NEWS
Happy Birthday to Gabriel. M, Aleksija. Z and Vincent. M
This term our Religious Education Unit had a focus of Jesus’ Community. This led us to discussing our local community and people who can help us. Thank you to Matthew Thorpe (Olivia’s Dad) for telling us all about how he fixes the elevators in our community and to Sean Blunt (Elizabeth’s Dad) who works for the ACT Rural Fire Service and keeps our community environment safe from fires.
Start collecting those bottle top lids.
Tune in again next week for some photos!

The children’s reports and portfolios have all been sent home. We hope you enjoy reflecting on your child’s learning journey this semester. Could you please take the time to complete the feedback sheet and return the portfolio to school before the end of term. Thank you for taking the time to meet with your child’s teacher and celebrating your child’s successes.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to those families who have already managed to meet with the teacher. Appointment booking sheets are up on the classroom windows. Next week is the last week that teachers have allocated time to meet, we do ask that all parents make the time to discuss reports and portfolios.

South Weston Cross Country
Last Tuesday St Jude's was well represented by 36 runners at the South Weston Cross Country Carnival at Stromlo Forest Park. Despite the cold and rainy conditions, all students ran well and were great representatives of St Jude's. From this carnival, 4 runners qualified to compete at the ACT Cross Country Championships which were held yesterday, 15 June. Congratulations to Flynn W, Archie R, Kate H and John C who ran as part of the South Weston Team. From all reports all of these students ran well, giving their best effort. Official results have not been forwarded to the school as yet.
Congratulations to all St Jude's students who competed at school, regional and state level. Amazing effort.
